The Chateau civic organization summer meeting was held July 19th at the Pavilion at Kenner City Park. Participants enjoyed socializing before the meeting with light refreshments and registration for the door prize.
Prior to the meeting information tables were provided by Louisiana Department of insurance, the US Coast Auxiliiary, JP Councilman Jennifer Van Vranken, ABC Alarm and the Audubon Society.
Elected officials in the room included State Senator Kirk Talbot, City Councilpersons George Branigan, Kristi McKinney and Tom Willmott, JP Councilman Dominick Impastato, and State Senator Kirk Talbot.
Following the pledge of allegiance led by Tom Tatar, President Bob Bales provided an update on membership. Financial reports were posted around the room. Membership is running about 90% of the goal for the year.
CECO will host a debate or forum for selected races in September.
The first presentation was by the city of Kenner and included a short film summarizing the priorities of the first year of the Mike Glaser administration.
Mr. Jose Gonzales, CAO for the city of Kenner provided a summary of capital projects that the city has planned. Ms. Natalie Newton, Deputy CAO provided a summary of economic development including information on cancellation of plans with Atlantis. The presentation included audience question and answer.
The second presentation is by Mr. Ron Camarota with the LA Department of Insurance. Mr. Camarota emphasized reviewing policies to be certain of the details of insurance coverage and legislation passed in the last regular session including fortified building and Insure Louisiana.
